We've advised supermarket giants Lidl in respect of a number of existing and potential sites, and concluded the acquisition of a 50,000 sqft warehouse on their behalf in October 2016. Lidl already have a store on Footscray High Street (outlined in red), and were keen to purchase more land to the north (in blue) in order to enable the development of a larger store, and secure a secondary point of access.
We approached and negotiated with the owner on Lidl's behalf, and finalised anunconditional sale and leaseback deal at £4.25m. The structure of the deal gives the seller the security of money in the bank and 12 months to relocate, whilst Lidl have no need to occupy their new acquisition until such time as planning permission has been granted.
