With the UK amid a serious heatwave and heat health alerts announced, here are our 5 ways we try and stay cool to make it a tad more comfortable...

51

Cool down your hot spots!

Keep your pulse points cool is the secret to keeping your temperature down whether it’s using cold water or an ice pack these are the spots to keep chilled:

- Temples
- Neck
- Elbow bends
- Wrists
- Behind the knees
- Ankles

53

Time to hibernate!

Ok, we admit that may be a bit extreme, but we do think it is best to keep out the sunshine during the sun’s peak – typically this can be from 11am-3pm where UV rays are strongest! Even if you can’t stay inside keep your eyes peeled for shady spots and slather on the sunscreen.

52

Eat your heat out

Find foods with a high-water intake to keep your hydration levels such as strawberries, cucumber and melon - it's an easy way to keep your hydration levels up and keeps your energy levels high.

50

Hang the sheets!

It may sound daft but if you need to cool a room down fast, we can assure you that this one works! Hang a wet/damp sheet in front of the window and when the air passes through the sheet, the moisture cools it!

54

Slow down...

4/5 of our energy consumed during exercise is released as heat so be aware of your daily activity! If you are too keen to miss out on a workout why not bring it inside and keep hydrated.
