Kennington is located in the Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. It is just South of the River Thames and is bordered by Elephant & Castle, Camberwell, Walworth, Lambeth North, and Waterloo.

  • Many MP's live in Kennington as well as celebrities including Greg Davies and Evan Davis. Charlie Chaplin and Bob Marley also lived in Kennington for a period of time.
  • Kennington was once home to a royal palace built by 'The Black Prince', which was later dismantled by Henry VIII.

The Oval Cricket Ground – An international cricket ground in Kennington. The best view of the Oval, according to the Telegraph, is from the communal roof terrace in Oval Mansions

Imperial War Museum – This museum is a very interesting day out and covers the history of war from WW1 to current day

Kennington Park – Kennington Park has a rich history. It was the destination for the world's first motorised double-decker bus which ran from Victoria to Kennington Park in 1899. It was also a site for public speaking and executions

Cinema Museum – A great museum for film lovers, it gives a fascinating insight into the history of cinema

 

Shopping

Kennington is near Central London and all its shopping opportunities. Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre is also nearby, hosting a range of vibrant stalls selling fruit and vegetables, household goods, fabric, and clothing. Oval Farmers Market, open on Saturdays, is a great option for shopping local and supporting small businesses.

Trains

Kennington Underground Station is on the Northern line, giving quick access to central London.

Lambeth North Underground Station is on the Bakerloo line which also gives fast access to Central London

Elephant & Castle Overground station to London Blackfriars in 5 minutes

Vauxhall Overground station to Waterloo in 6 minutes

Vauxhall Station also gives good access to surrounding areas throughout the South East
