Borough of Greenwich

Blackheath Standard is located in the Borough of Greenwich and is bordered by Blackheath Village, Greenwich, Charlton, and Shooters Hill.


Did you know?
  • Chamberlain, Powell and Bon, pioneers of the Brutalist movement, designed and built a housing development in the 60s called Combe Avenue, near to Blackheath Standard.
  • Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer once lived in the area at the beginning of their comedy careers.
  • Westcombe Park was named after West Combe Manor house built in the 1720s which had 50 acres of pleasure grounds. Sir John Vanbrugh built Vanbrugh castle which is found on the outskirts of Westcombe park of which many roads named after him.


Look out for

Charlton House and Park – Built in the Jacobean style between 1607 and 1612, this house and its extensive gardens are open to visitors. It was donated to the Red Cross in WW1 and used as a temporary hospital.

The O2 – This famous music venue is located in nearby Greenwich.

Mycenae House and gardens – A popular community hall hosting many classes and workshops for residents of the area.

Greenwich Park – One of the largest green spaces in London, Greenwich Park is just a short walk from Blackheath Standard



The high street has many independent cafes, an M&S Simply Food, and independent grocers and butchers. Stone Lake retail park in nearby Charlton has a selection of high street stores.

Standard Fish Bar – Great fish and chip shop located in Blackheath Standard high street

The British Oak – Very warm and traditional pub, with many events on in the evenings



Properties in the area are mostly a mix of Victorian, Edwardian, 1930s, ex-local authority houses and flats. Sought after areas include Rectory Fields Conservation area, Westcombe Park Conservation area, and Charlton slopes.


  • Westcombe Park to London Cannon Street in 19 minutes
  • Woolwich gives access to the DLR and Elizabeth Line


Other Transport

Access to A2 by car is very convenient, along with the Woolwich Ferry and Thames Clipper offering transport on the River Thames.
