Our Planning Management team has been engaged by the private owner of this mixed-use site to handle its promotion for development. The site falls within the recently established Old Kent Road Area Action Plan (OKRAAP). It was clear a more comprehensive approach was required, so we approached the neighbouring property owner of a church and community group to see if they would be interested in selling for development. They were not interested in selling as they had an established congregation and wanted to stay in the area. We therefore made a proposal to provide them with a new and larger church and community facility within the development of the wider site. We put together an appropriate team including Maccreanor Lavington Architects, Avison Young planning consultants, and a whole host of other consultants required and devised a mixed use scheme to develop the site for 111 residential units, a 12,389 sqft new church / community facility, a retail unit, café and 18,190sqft of light industrial employment (SME) space. In addition to putting a deal together with the church group and managing the planning, we put in place agreements with the three commercial tenants operating from the site so that vacant possession could be established at the appropriate moment allowing the proposed development to be built. http://www.okr-rubyst-murdockst.co.uk/
